My orthopedic doctor recommended a shoe with a "rocker" style soul. I ordered several similar styles from different manufacturers. This model fit extremely well and is very comfortable. Most likely I will shop for other Hoka One shoes. I'm a solid size 10 narrow. This 11 was a good fit. I purchased a larger size based on others reviews.
Cushioning is good, interior is soft and comfortable, outsole good, and waterproofing seems real good. They were stable when backpacking 25 miles. The outer of the shoe sheds water well. (unless rain runs down into them). I do wish they were a little lighter weight. Size 12 weigh 19 oz each, on my scale.
Let’s face it: the Hoka Carbon X 3 is a good shoe overall, but its upper doesn’t live up to its ambitions. The quiet strength of its cushioning is admirable, but the foot lockdown is insufficient for a shoe that dreams of helping athletes break records.
