I have had 2 mondeo's now and an s max all between a 57 and 59 plate, every one of them has had an intermittent locking problem, one minute its working fine then nothing for a few days then it might be a week before it happens again or a couple of months, can anyone shed a light on what could be wrong

Hopefully all fixed now.

You don't need two keys to programme the remote central locking, just take it to the car and turn the key from 0 to 2 four times in six seconds finishing on 0, there should be a beep to let you know it's in the learning mode, Now press any button on the remote and another beep should be

Driver door electric window,folding mirror, rear window, central locking won't work. I thought it was the multi console at fault and had it's day, but I removed the plug/wiring from the driver side front of the door that goes into the wing and there was a thick black wire (positive power) broken at the terminal inside the connector, not obvious
4titx. 5227 posts · Joined 2009. #11 · Oct 18, 2012. The car does normally lock itself after a global opening by the fob so if the car stays unlocked that could, thats only could, mean its not a fob thats opened it. LEDs, whats your Watts. 2.0 TDCi TitX in Hypnotic Silver.
Other causes could be -. * central locking motor (small white motor under the boot lock) * faulty boot lock. * rear windscreen wash pipe maybe leaking and could have seized up the boot mechanism (common prob) If you can manage to get the panel off, you can move the lock mechanism by hand to open the boot.
BenM508. " Take your car remote and press the door unlock and lock buttons simultaneously for at least 4 seconds with the ignition off. The direction indicators will flash twice to indicate that the unlocking function has been sucessfully re-programmed.

Hi my mk4 2.2 Tdci is playing up it started with the power fold mirrors only folding with fob at random times and then drivers window switches not work all the time sometimes did sometimes didn’t now the drivers side rear window Is the same and now my central locking is only part working the passenger side doors both lock with the fob but drivers side rear I have to lock before closing the
Drivers side electrics. My Mondeo is a 2009 (59) and has, in the last few days, developed an electrical issue. I can't control any of the windows or use the electric mirrors using the door controls. The central locking works only on the passenger side (and boot & filler cap) - I have to manually lock the front and rear driver's side doors.

I seem to have exactly the same problem. The door manual lock lever just moves a little, but fails to 'throw' the lock over either to lock or open. An earlier suggestion was to soak the central locking unit with WD40. Is the central locking unit in this case attached directly to the door latch mechanism? or is it elsewhere?
